Love, Darcy | Graduation and Giving Your Children Wings
Some of you may be coming to a milestone in your lives as parents…A child graduating from highschool! Here is a post from our archives that Darcy wrote when one of their daughters was graduating. We hope its an encouragement to you. **************************************** It is hard to believe we are at this point in our lives AGAIN. Eighteen years ago we welcomed a tiny little girl into our hearts and we have seen her take a big breath of life everyday since then. Before we knew it, with a backpack as big as she was and long blonde crimped hair down to the middle of her back, she bounced onto the yellow school bus, waving goodbye to a tearful Mom and her downcast little brother. It seems like yesterday. However, these last thirteen years have been filled with adventures and achievements, learning and growing, determination and fun. Now it has all come down to her last weeks in her last month of her last year in high school. Talk about a time of firsts and lasts, good byes and greetings, and excitement and sadness. Shiloh will spend this time saying farewell to a lot of the old and hello to a lot of the new plans God has for her. Because of God’s faithfulness and grace, Shiloh has much for which to be thankful: humbling accolades for her academic, civic and athletic achievements, an exciting opportunity at Arizona State University in the nursing program, great, loving friends and a relationship with her wonderful God. What more could any parent ask for? And yet, my mother’s heart is hurting as I realize that we will be seeing less and less of this little girl who has too quickly grown into a young woman. As Shiloh puts high school in her rear view mirror, her entire future opens up to her. Praise God that her future includes Him and us. Here’s to pomp, circumstance and giving them wings.
Love, Darcy
