Discover Your Child’s Heart

Today is going to be a great day at Family Matters! I have the awesome opportunity to introduce you to another smokin, hot resource from the one and only Dr. Tim Kimmel.  (I’m sure he hates when I intro him this way…but somebody’s gotta keep it a bit ridiculous around here) And NO, they don’t pay me anything to say this stuff!! Yeah, not so much…anyway! Last year Cole-Train and I sat down to watch one of our favorite movies, Napoleon Dynamite.  Cole and I love Uncle Rico, Napoleon and you just gotta love the Kipster!! So Tifton walks into the room, sits down by me, I’m laughing so hard that I need Depends…Tifton watches for about 10 minutes, gets up and says “THIS IS THE STUPIDEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN!” And our conversation goes something like this… DAD:  “What’s the problem Tifton?”  “You don’t ever like any of the movies that I enjoy.” TIFTON:  “I just don’t think it’s very funny.” DAD:  “Tifton, this stuff is hilarious…what’s the problem?” TIFTON:  “Dad, you just don’t know me very well.  You don’t know what I like and what I don’t like.” My 9 year old son ripped my heart out, threw it on the ground, jumped all over it and handed it back to me. But you know what…The Jackhammer was right! I had spent several years attempting to mold Tifton into WHO I THOUGHT HE SHOULD BE instead of pulling out of him WHO GOD MADE HIM TO BE.
