DIY Father’s Day

I don’t know about you, but my husband and father are the hardest people to shop for.  They either get what they want from the tool store or they want a boat.  Gift cards are boring and I can’t just go out and buy a boat. I have a hunch that I am not alone, so I am here to provide some simple yet loving crafty ideas for you and your kiddos to start for this year’s Father’s Day. Disclaimer: I am not taking credit for these crafts; they will lead you to other sites with tutorials and pictures.  This is just me merely trying to help out follow mothers and kids who are in the same boat. Ha Ha.   Father's Day Gifts, Family Matters Blog, Dr. Tim Kimmel, Grace Based Parenting, DIY Daddy’s Goody Jar This looks really cute and is really simple to make.  All you will need is paper and tape for making the tie and collar, a jar or some sort and then some of your pop’s favorite candies to fill said jar.  If you love your local Dollar Store as much as I do – you can find all the supplies for this craft for under $5.     Father's Day gifts, Family Matters Blog, Dr. Tim Kimmel, Grace Based Parenting, DIY All About My Dad Does your child’s school do an “All About Me” poster at the beginning of the year?  Mine does and I think this is a great way for kids to show what they notice and love about their dad.  It’s also a great way for dads to see how they are portrayed to their children.  Smaller kids will need help with this, but this activity can be done by children of all ages.       Father's Day Gift, Family Matters Blog, Dr. Tim Kimmel, Grace based Parenting, DIY “I love you, Dad” Card This is a home-made sort of card that uses the hand print of your own child.  Trace, cut, glue, decorate and write and you are done!  This cared is very simple, but meaningful as it is HIS child’s hand saying “I love you”.       Fathers Day, Dr. Tim Kimmel, Family Matters Blog, Grace based Parenting, DIY Father’s Day Banner My family usually does a large get-together for all the dads.  This banner would be a cute decoration to hang over the table or doorway as the dads enter the festivities.  All you need is string, paper and tape!       Father's day, Family matters blog, Dr. Tim Kimmel, Grace based parenting, DIY Shoe Planters If you are throwing a party (and this could be used at any time throughout the year) and need a Father’s Day center piece…use a shoe!  The picture link will guide you to a tutorial all about this adorable craft.  I cannot wait to make this for my own family!       father's day, Family matters blog, dr. tim kimmel, grace based parenting, diy, photo shootPhoto Shoot If you have time to make a secret Father’s Day present – this is a great idea.  All you will need is a small chalk board, some cute kids, and a camera.  Have them ( or he/she ) pose with the board stating “I love you because….” And then do a series of pictures with sayings of why your children love their dad.  If you allow them to say whatever is on their hearts, it will be a personal and special gift for their daddy.  This, again, is a great gift for kids of any age…even college bound 😉     I hope some of these ideas help you – I know they helped me!  Feel free to post more ideas for a DIY Father’s Day!
