Blossoms of Hope

We sat still waiting. I whisper to my two daughters, “Can you hear the songs of the many other types of birds?” Suddenly one arrives. The humming sound rouses our attention. The tiny bird with long pointy beak hovers in front of the brilliant pink flower drawing the nectar from the trumpet shaped well. Last October for my birthday, I asked my husband to build a wooden box to host a flower garden at the entrance to my vegetable garden. Next to a small bridge leading to an arbor with two adjoining fruit trees sits a flourishing display of spring blossoms arranged in the colors of the rainbow. I use the array of splendor to remind my two little girls of God’s magnificent creation and His enormous love for us.

I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth. – Genesis 9:11

  I tell them even though we fall short in perfect adherence to His holiness (Romans 3:23), His new covenant of grace brought through Jesus’ death and resurrection is the promise we draw hope from (Titus 3:7).

Having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. – Titus 3:7

  I celebrate how spring flowers arrive at the same time we remember the final sacrifice and ultimate victory Jesus’ resurrection brings during the Easter holiday.     {originally published in 2013}
