Earth Day Round Up :: Celebrate Creator God
Psalm 19
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is hidden from its heat. Let us take this time celebrating the Earth by celebrating The Creator who made the Earth. Here are some fun family activities or crafts that glorify God and His creation.
“And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water” So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse form the ater above it. And it was so. God called the expanse “sky.” Genesis 1:6-8
Take care of His sky- Place a Peace Lily plant in your home. It is not only white and beautiful but it also is known for removing benzene, a common household chemical and known carcinogen, as well as mold spores in the air. Decorate the Peace Lily’s pot or basket with your family; perhaps with chalkboard paint so that you can write Bible verses on it or simply a positive word.
“And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters He called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.” Genesis 1:9-10
Take care of His water- As a family, go to a body of water and pick up any trash you see laying around. Man made deposits, trash & toxins pollute the oceans, rivers, lakes and seas every day. Give God’s Earth a little help and clean up our water source. If you don’t live near a body of water, you can help out by tying your used plastic grocery bags in knots so that sea birds, fish and aquatic mammals cannot get caught in them if the bags are misplaced into their environment.
“God made two great lights – the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.” Genesis 1:16-18
Take care of His stars- Download “Starmap”, “Star Walk” or “Sky View” onto your smart phone or tablet and gaze up at His mighty creation at night. Depending on where you live, it may be hard to see His stars without fun gadgets as these. Look in awe and enjoy His good works!
