Radio Wednesdays – Batmom and Batdad
Batman is the faceless hero of Gotham City; a town that desperately needs saving.
For moms and dads, if you want to catch a glimpse of Batman’s face, perhaps you should just look in a mirror. At the end of one of the Batman thrillers we’re told, “Gotham needs a hero with a face.” It’s true. And so do our children. They need adults who don’t wet their finger and hold it to the winds of collective opinion before telling us what they believe. They need uncompromised pace setters up close to them who believe in the pure goodness of God, who trust in the systematic order and reason behind creation, and the eternal potential that lies behind every human face. And they need someone who is willing to stand up for these values at the expense of their very lives. Hollywood likes to refer to people who sacrifice themselves for others as superheroes. God simply calls them parents. This Family Matters Minute broadcast is based on Heart of the Home Newsletter, Fall Spring 2009.) ©Copyright 2010 Family Matters and Dr.Tim Kimmel
