A Baby Changes Everything

If you’re a parent, you know exactly what I mean when I say, “A baby changes everything”. For those who have yet to enter into the world of parenting, no amount of explanation or illustration could ever do justice to this statement. It’s one of those things that has to be experienced first hand to know the height, depth and breadth of this truism.   Nothing is the same after you become a parent.  If you’re a woman, your body is changed forever (whether you adopt or give birth!); your house becomes unrecognizable, your car is declared a bio hazard, the yard looks like a dumping ground and your glass of water becomes a community backwash.   But on the other hand, life takes on a grander meaning; you aspire to greater character and efforts knowing that little eyes are taking it all in, you acquire a fresh look at the simple pleasures of life, you love with a love that you didn’t know you had in you and you are in wonder of this beautiful creation called a child.   Someone has so aptly said that “A baby is God’s way of saying that the world should go on”. Our family has recently experienced this with the birth of our fifth grandchild, Tyler Ellis Danley. In the midst of a dark corridor of cancer treatment for our son-in-law, Ian, God blessed him and our daughter Shiloh with a little, baby boy.   Although cancer and newborns both take a toll, God has indeed been faithful during these last few months and shown His grace to Ian and Shiloh as they have been forced to lean into Him and watch Him provide. Little Tyler has been a visible demonstration of God’s grace in what could be a very sad time.

With Ian’s cancer treatment just now behind him, we’re trusting God that this will be the end of the “cancer” chapter in their lives. Most of all, we’re trusting in God’s goodness and sovereign plan for them. We’re so grateful that plan includes this wonderful little boy.   Here’s to Blessings that come in small packages and Burdens carried by a Mighty God,   Love, Darcy

For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears, He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17
