Advancing Grace:: Salvaged by Grace

How one Mom became an Ambassador for Family Matters In her transition from working mom to stay-at-home mom, Michelle Hutchison discovered the book, Grace Based Parenting.  As a young mom with two kids under the age of 3, she came to appreciate the power – and simplicity – of the Grace message. Now, 3 years later, Michelle and her husband Richard fully embrace God’s message of grace.  Not only has it formatted their relationship with their kids, but it’s also enriched their marriage.  In Michelle’s own words,

“The grace message has been a great equalizer for me and my husband. There are many ways to handle parenting situations.  We now recognize that as long as we’re connected on what matters – God’s grace – we’re free to give each other the leeway to handle situations differently.  The grace message has also been a reconnecting point in our marriage.  Through Family Matters, we’ve realized that marriage is not a ‘50/50’ proposition.  It’s ‘100/100’ with both of us fully committed to meeting the needs of the other.”

  MichelleFIXEDMichelle was recently introduced to the Family Matters’ team through a Grace and Your Family workshop at her home church, Scottsdale Bible.  It was there Michelle learned of the Ambassador program and decided to make herself available to serve as a carrier of the message. As a young girl, Michelle enjoyed journaling.  Her love of writing compelled her to start blogging – one way she now serves as an Ambassador.  Michelle shared that “As I write, it helps crystallize my thinking.  As much as this is a way to reach others with this powerful message , it also helps keep my mind focused on God’s grace.  This makes me a better mom and wife.” In addition to serving as a blogger, Michelle also speaks to MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) groups around Phoenix and teaches Grace Based Parenting classes at her church.  Through these outlets, Michelle impacts dozens of people’s lives and experiences great joy in ministry.  When asked why she chose to do this, Michelle had this to say.

“Speaking and teaching for Family Matters allows me to share and see first-hand  the healing power of God’s grace.  Women put so much pressure on themselves to “do it all right” or “get everything perfect.”  I often meet moms that are at the end of their rope.  The grace message helps these women see that there’s a new way – a second chance.  There’s forgiveness!”

  We hope you’ll take a moment to get to know Michelle better by reading her latest blog post entitled NOT Mother of the Year.  We know you’ll enjoy it! If you’d like to learn more about becoming a Family Matters Ambassador, please drop us an email or give us a call.
