Conflict in Marriage: Separate the Facts from the Feelings

In any argument, there are the facts and there are the feelings. Sometimes, when we are having a hard time resolving conflict with our spouse, it’s because one spouse is arguing the facts and the other is arguing the feelings. To come to resolution, it helps to separate the facts and the feelings and deal with them one at a time.

You might find that even if you were right when it comes to the facts, you were insensitive to your spouse’s feelings. You might need to apologize for that insensitivity. That’s why it’s important to recognize that conflicts aren’t simply one dimensional.
